2328-edited-resizedMichael Dezsi has risen to the top ranks of Michigan’s attorneys having been named several times as a “Rising Star” among lawyers under 40.  Dezsi has held the title of Metro Times Best Attorney since 2011.   He has been called upon to handle some of the highest profile and complex cases seen in the courts.  Dezsi has appeared and argued cases all over the country in both state and federal courts.

Dezsi has trial expertise in both high stakes criminal and civil trials with a reputation for aggressive strategies for his clients.  He has recovered millions of dollars on behalf of his clients.

Dezsi began his legal career at the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law where his outstanding legal writing and analytical abilities landed him the position of Executive Editor of the Law Review.  After graduating near the top of his class with numerous awards and scholarships, Dezsi was hired as a judicial law clerk at the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan where he worked hand in hand with federal judges overseeing criminal and civil cases and trials.  Dezsi went on to accept a prestigious clerkship with a judge of the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit.

Having served as a law clerk at both the federal trial and appeals courts, Michael Dezsi has first-hand experience and expertise in federal law and practice including the complex area of post-conviction remedies including writs of habeas corpus, civil rights and constitutional law.

As a young lawyer, Dezsi went on to represent attorney Geoffrey Fieger in a number high profile cases.  In December 2006, Dezsi won a reversal from the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals in Mr. Fieger’s constitutional claims against members of the Michigan Supreme Court who Fieger claimed were overtly biased against him. Dezsi was also part of the “Fieger Dream Team” led by legendary Wyoming lawyer, Gerry Spence, that obtained Mr. Fieger’s 2008 across-the-board acquittal of a ten-count felony indictment for federal campaign finance violations.

Dezsi has handled and argued dozens of appeals at the federal courts of appeals across the country.   He has also handled several high-stakes cases in numerous state and federal courts across the country including as a member of the trial bar of the Northern District of Illinois.
