Dezsi represented Mr. Fieger in a second high-profile battle against the Michigan Supreme Court over the constitutionality of Michigan’s ‘civility’ rules of professional conduct.  Fieger was charged with professional misconduct after speaking critically of several Michigan Court of Appeals judges.  Representing Mr. Fieger, Dezsi challenged the rules as a violation of Fieger’s First Amendment rights of free speech.  In a lengthy opinion, the federal district court agreed with Dezsi’s legal analysis that the civility rules violated the First Amendment.  This case garnered national attention and sparked a debate over the First Amendment rights of attorneys.
